Things to do beyond Orchid Bay that your host can arrange on your behalf to suit your proposed schedule.
The Crimson Orchid Inn can also arrange transportation as necessary to a number of other exciting places in Belize:
At MET you can enjoy half or full day equestrian tours. For example, a full day horseback ride to Big Rock Falls starts after breakfast. The trail passes through rainforest, then transition areas, and up into the Mountain Pine Ridge. Travel time to the waterfalls is 2+ hours. Your horses will be tied while you hike down a steep path to the river.
Enjoy your specially prepared lunch and a refreshing leisurely swim under the falls before the ride back to MET.
Jaguar and puma tracks are common on the trail so it's always a good idea to "keep your eyes peeled."
Your guide will point out features, birds, and will discuss traditional medicinal uses of plants and trees.
Thatched roof cabanas constructed from local hardwoods and adobe stucco made by expert indigenous craftsman in the native style are available.
Each room is decorated with Maya woven tapestries, locally made table & chairs, has a private bath with hot water and a deck overlooking the picturesque valley.
There is no electricity in the rooms; kerosene lanterns provide lighting and an exotic ambiance.
Mosquito nets are provided, though rarely needed, so you can leave your windows open and enjoy the cool evening breezes.
The Cantina is the center of the action having a bar and restaurant that serves delicious home style cooking with local entrees;
fish, barbeque, pizza, tacos, rice and beans, homemade tortillas, breads, cakes and lots of fresh fruits and vegetables.
Electricity is available to charge your phones, cameras, computers or anything else you want to plug in. Limited internet service is available for no charge.
Just an hour's drive from the Inn you can experience one of the most exciting adventures in Central Belize.
Every day of the year you can board a fast boat to the second largest Mayan City in all of Belize. A boat ride on one of the main Mayan highways, the New River, leads you to Lamanai.
The boats are skippered and the tours are led by seasoned, licensed guides that will introduce you to the incredible flora, fauna and archaeological riches of Central Belize.
The tour includes a superb, traditional Belizean lunch within the Mayan site.
Also available are guided fishing tours on the New River and the New River Lagoon.
These adventures can be guided by Errol Cadle, Founder and Operator of Lamanai Eco Tours, who is amply equipped to locate the many types of fish common in the area such as the huge Tarpon and Snook after a lifetime of experience in these waters.
For further information on these and any other adventures in Belize please call 011-501-671-2000 and your host will tell you about what is available to you that he can book on your behalf.
